Chicago City Council Child Care for All Hearing
Our coalition of community organizations and labor unions launched the Child Care For All Campaign to build a movement of parents and child care workers who aren’t going to stop fighting until we have a child care system that works for everyone.
On September 4th, we brought our fight directly to the Chicago City Council, when we turned out for a hearing specifically about child care to share our stories and demand that the City Council make investing in the child care system a priority.
Did you miss the hearing? You’ll have another chance to tell city leaders why they need to invest in child care—join us on Wednesday, September 25th at 7pm for a virtual town hall with City Council members
Being in the hearing room last week with the child care workers, administrators, parents, and community allies who have joined our movement to fight for child care for all, I felt proud of what we are building. And I felt powerful.
The city council scheduled this hearing because we have been relentless in raising the alarm about the child care crisis. News outlets from all over the city showed up to talk to us because we’ve made it clear that this issue is far too important to ignore. And we packed the room with supporters because we have a vision for what the child care system could look like and the determination to make it a reality.
Our movement is building momentum, but we must keep going. Sign up to join our virtual town hall on September 25th to make it clear to our elected leaders that we won’t stop fighting until we have child care for all.
In unity,
Denika Berry,
Chicago Parent
